What is the The Soroptimist Ruby Award?  It is For Women Helping Women and recognizes and honors the first federation president, Ruby Lee Minar.

A ruby is also a deep red gemstone associated with wisdom, importance, vitality, strength, vivacity, power and love: all words embodying the strong and compassionate women who are our award recipients.

The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who have worked to improve the lives of women and girls through their professional and/or volunteer work.

This award honors women who are making extraordinary differences in the lives of other women. This program gives Soroptimists the opportunity to say “thank you” and encourage others to explore ways to assist women.  A Ruby Award recipient is a woman who:

  • Has worked to improve the lives of women and girls,
  • Has had a significant impact on the lives of women and girls,
  • Would inspire and encourage other women.

The Soroptimist Ruby Award begins at the local-level where clubs recognize a woman in their community. Clubs submit their entry to the region-level, where the region selects a woman to honor at the region conference. The regions submit their entries to the federation-level, where one woman is selected.
